Frequently asked questions
- Does this unit come with charts, or do I need to buy them separately?
- Charts are included. This bundle ships with Garmin Navionics+ Canada Inland and Coastal preloaded on the unit, covering lakes, rivers, and coastal waters across Canada. No separate chart purchase is required.
- What is the difference between ClearVü and SideVü?
- ClearVü (Clear View) produces a near-photographic image of what is directly beneath the boat. SideVü (Side View) sweeps to both sides of the hull, showing structure, bottom contour, and fish out to the side. Both use the UHD2 frequencies (up to 800 kHz) for sharper detail than previous HD or standard sonar generations.
- What transducer does this kit include, and how is it mounted?
- The GT54UHD-TM is a transom-mount transducer. It attaches to the transom with the supplied bracket and requires a cable run to the back of the unit. It provides traditional, ClearVü, and SideVü sonar in one housing.
- Is this unit compatible with Garmin LiveScope?
- Yes. The ECHOMAP UHD2 75sv supports LiveScope and LiveScope Plus systems. The LiveScope transducer and GLS 10 sonar module are sold separately.
- Can I network this unit with other Garmin devices?
- Yes. The unit supports NMEA 2000 (for engine data, autopilot, VHF, etc.), NMEA 0183, and the Garmin Marine Network for sharing sonar, GPS, and waypoints with compatible Garmin displays.
- Does the unit have built-in Wi-Fi?
- Yes. Built-in Wi-Fi allows connection to the ActiveCaptain app on a smartphone or tablet for chart updates, software updates, waypoint sync, and marina information — all without removing a microSD card.
- What is the water-resistance rating?
- The display unit is rated IPX7, meaning it is protected against temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. It is designed for open-boat marine environments but is not rated for continuous submersion.
- How many microSD card slots does it have, and what are they used for?
- There are two microSD slots. One is typically used for additional Garmin Navionics charts; the other can be used for sonar recording (Panoptix history or traditional sonar logs) or additional chart storage.
