Does the LVS42HD require the GLS 10 black box? No. The LiveScope 2 HD LVS42HD connects directly to a compatible chartplotter and power source — no GLS 10 sonar module is required.

What’s the maximum depth the LVS42HD can scan? 125 ft bottom track in both Down and Forward modes. The higher-frequency signal delivers sharper detail at the trade-off of shorter range compared to the LVS44.

What’s the difference between the LVS42HD and the LVS44? The LVS42HD uses an 850–1600 kHz frequency for ultra-HD detail at closer range (125 ft) with 3.8" target separation at 30 ft. The LVS44 uses a lower 600–1050 kHz frequency for maximum range (250 ft). Choose LVS42HD for maximum resolution near the boat; LVS44 for long-range scouting.

Can I upgrade from LVS32 or LVS34 to the LVS42HD? Yes, if your chartplotter is on the compatibility list and supports LiveScope 2 (a software update may be required). You can swap the transducer and remove the GLS 10 black box entirely.
