Compatibility & control

The ORA SMX11 is a standalone light controlled by a standard marine on/off switch (user-supplied). It does not connect to any Lumishore command center, hub, or MFD. This makes it the simplest Lumishore light to install — wire it like any 12 V DC accessory and switch it from your helm or a dedicated panel switch.

Why choose white over blue for an underwater light?
White light provides broader visibility for dock operations and night swimming, pairs well with blue lights in a multi-light transom setup, and works effectively for above-waterline accent illumination. Blue tends to attract more baitfish; white is more practical as a general-purpose light.

Can I control the SMX11 from my Garmin chartplotter?
No. The ORA SMX11 is controlled only by a standard marine on/off switch. It has no network or bus connection. MFD-controllable lights are available in the Lumishore EOS and LUX series.

Is the SMX11 suitable for above-waterline mounting?
Yes. IP68-rated and equipped with Active Thermal Rollback (ATRB), the SMX11 can be mounted above the waterline for dock or accent use. Best underwater glow is achieved at 100–300 mm below the waterline.

Does the SMX11 work on 24 V systems?
No. The SMX11 is a 12 V DC-only light (10–14 V range). Do not connect to a 24 V supply.

What sealant do I use for installation?
Lumishore specifies 3M 4200 marine sealant. Use it on the mounting surface and around the cable hole as directed in installation manual 45-0238-Rev-A.

What's the warranty?
The SMX11 carries a 1-year Lumishore warranty. MyGreenOutdoors is a Garmin and Lumishore authorized dealer and can assist with warranty support.

Is the Lumishore SMX11 the same as the Garmin SMX11?
Yes. Garmin acquired Lumishore in October 2024. The White SMX11 now carries Garmin MPN 010-04352-00. The product itself is unchanged.
